LITTLE Mix made a triumphant return to South Shields for the first time since they won The X Factor in 2011.
The girl-group, featuring local girls Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall, hadn’t played in their hometown since the homecoming episode of the TV talent show, when they sang at the Temple Park Centre.
The crowd went wild as the pair and bandmates Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock performed songs including How Ya Doin?, DNA, Wings, and En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go.
Before they took to the stage, 20-year-old Jade, from Laygate, said: “We’re so excited and nervous. All our family and friends are here and it’s going to kick off!
“We keep welling up. I just heard Joe sing ‘South Shields’ and I felt like crying. It’s a special one.”
Perrie, 20, who recently got engaged to One Direction’s Zayn Malik, smiled as she showed off her engagement ring.
She said: “I’m very happy, I’m riding on cloud nine.”
“I’m excited to get on and dance a little - it’s going to be good!”
