THE search is on for our next borough winner of The X Factor.
Bosses of the ITV talent show are spending the day at The Customs House, in South Shields.
Producers are hosting open auditions until 4.30pm today in the hope of finding the next big singing star.
South Shields has already supplied The X Factor with three champions.
Joe McElderry, of Westoe, came out on top in 2009, and Perrie Edwards, of Whiteleas, and Jade Thirlwall, of Laygate, won the show as part of girlband Little Mix in 2011.
Ray Spencer, executive director of the Mill Dam venue, says it would be exciting to find yet another potential winner today.
