SOUTH Shields singing star Joe McElderry has announced a hometown show.

The 22-year-old X Factor and Popstar to Operastar champ will perform at the Customs House as part of his Set Your Soul Alive tour.

The gig, on March 22 next year, was one of 40 dates to be announced yesterday, with another 10 expected to be announced soon.

Joe said: “I’ve played almost every venue in the North East, except the Customs House, and it’s a venue that’s special to me because I used to work there.

“It means a lot to me that I’ve been able to include it in this tour, and I’m so excited to go back.

“I think it’ll be really strange being backstage though, because I used to take drinks to people in the dressing room when I worked there.

“I’m really excited about the tour though, I can’t wait.”

Tickets go on sale for the gig at the Mill Dam venue, in South Shields today.

They cost £20.50 with £19 concessions.

Book online from 9am at www.customshouse.co.uk or by calling the box office from 11am on 454 1234.
