The Mimic Men: Alfie Joey and Cal Halbert appear on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan after Britain's Got Talent success

Two North East funnymen have appeared on national TV for the second time in three days after wowing judges on Britain's Got Talent.

"The Mimic Men" Alfie Joey, 48 from Gateshead , and Cal Halbert, 22, from Newcastle , got four ‘yeses’ on Saturday night for their entertaining A-Z (Alan Carr to Ziggy Stardus) of celebrity impressions, which include EastEnders' Natalie Cassidy, President Barack Obama and Star Wars' Yoda.

This morning they appeared on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan to talk about their act and BGT airing.

Alfie is well known in the North East as the voice of BBC Radio Newcastle’s Breakfast show, and has previously appeared on the small screen in Johnny Vegas’ BBC3 comedy show, Ideal and plays Vic Reeves’ doctor in the popular sitcom Hebburn.

Cal, an optician, has previously appeared in Britain's Got Talent in 2011 - when he got three yeses and reached the final 200 acts.

The pair are both veteran impressionists qho met on the comedy circuit and decided to start performing together.

On Saturday night's show, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams were were unanimous ind sending the through to the next round.

“We’re the Mimic men, thank you very much,” they concluded, after a series of memorable characters.

Amanda Holden said: “I love you for doing Natalie Cassidy. It was genius.”

Alesha Dixon added: “You worked brilliantly together – my mouth is hurting from laughing.”

David Walliams said: “When you said you were going to do an A-Z, I thought it would be tough but you guys were brilliant.

“The way you bounce off each other is very special.”
