A FRIGHT night for families in South Tyneside has won the backing of safety chiefs.

The Nearly Famous Performing Arts Group (NFPAG) received £300 from the Darker Nights campaign for its Halloween show.

Run by the police, fire service, South Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes, Darker Nights aims to cut anti-social behaviour at Halloween.

Chris Perry, from NFPAG, said: “The grant is a great help as funds are low, as are everyone’s, and we are pleased to have support.”

Preparations are under way for the Haunted House of Horror, a ghost walk at Brinkburn Community Association in McAnany Avenue, South Shields, on Saturday, November 2.

Entries are every 30 minutes from 6.30pm until 9.30pm. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children and places must be booked.

A midnight walk is available. To book, call 07905 074 111. NFPAG meets on Thursday, from 6pm to 9pm, at Brinkburn CA.
