NEW FACTS ... a still from Jack the Ripper - A 21st Century Investigation.

A FORMER murder squad detective is returning to South Tyneside to reveal new findings about one of history’s most famous mysteries.

Former British murder squad detective, Trevor Marriott, shocked an audience at the Customs House, South Shields, with his show The Evil Within: The World’s Worst Serial Killers, in February.

Later this month, he will unveil the findings of his cold case investigation into Jack The Ripper and The Whitechapel Murders of 1888, called Jack the Ripper – A 21st Century Investigation.

Trevor, who worked for Bedfordshire Police, has been conducting the investigation since 2002, and said the public will be startled by his discoveries.

He said: “There was no Jack the Ripper.

“And generally to be fair, I think the public have been misled all these years by what they have seen and read. For example, the prime suspects in the murder – there was no evidence to make them prime suspects, and things have been over-exaggerated by the Press and media all these years.”

The show has been running since 2013, but will be presented at the Customs House, in Mill Dam, for the first time on September 22, and Trevor said he is looking forward to returning to South Shields.

He added: “I did enjoy the audience last time. They were very welcoming.

“I think what I am presenting has been more or less accepted now, apart from maybe by a few Ripper enthusiasts.

“People are saying it is a totally different mystery now.”

Tickets for the show cost £14 or £12 concession. For more information and to buy, call 454 1234 or visit www.customshouse.co.uk.
