Waiting for Video...

EVEN the threat of flooding couldn’t stop South Shields’ little panto with a big heart’ going ahead tonight.

There were fears at one point that the evening performance of Cinderalla at the Customs House might have to be cancelled.

The theatre in Mill Dam was in danger of being flooded at one point after gale force winds, high tides and a storm surge caused the River Tyne to burst its banks, flooding the adjacent car park.

A planned children’s reception at the venue had to be cancelled, but director Ray Spencer tweeted at 5pm: “The pantomime will be on as normal @thecustomshouse tonight.

“The show must go on!!!! A little water won’t stop us.”
