Award-winning boyband 5ive will also perform some of their hits before joining the Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside, Coun Alan Smith and Moira Smith, and Anna Foster from BBC Newcastle for the switch on.

Also performing will be singer songwriter, Lauren Amour and new boyband District 12.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Christmas Wonderland lighting display in St Hilda’s Church Gardens.

The Mayor said: “It is a real thrill to be turning on the borough’s Christmas light displays in South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn, which create a special festive atmosphere across South Tyneside. It is a joy to see the community coming together to take part in these glittering annual events.”
