A South Tyneside restaurant is hoping to Thai down a new legion of customers – after a £10,000 makeover.
The Orangegrass Thai restaurant, in Mount Terrace, South Shield, celebrates its 10th birthday this month, and is set to do so with a grand reopening.
The interior of the eatery has been redisgned, while fittings and decorations have been replaced and upgraded.
There will also be new menus, including mains, starters, desserts and drinks, while an event featuring Thai dancers, magicians and live music will mark the reopening.
Orangegrass owner Titu Akhtar said: “With a lot of places popping up and closing within a couple of years, we really wanted to celebrate 10 years in business.
“So what better time to freshen up the restaurant and the menu options we have, from both food and drinks.
The changes we’ve made really will give a new feel to the placeTitu Akhtar
“The changes we’ve made really will give a new feel to the place; it’s going to feel brighter, fresher and a lot more open.
“As much as anything it’s a big thank you to our customers and giving something back to them.”
The venue will see customers for the first time since the investment on Thursday, and there will be a mix of cultures at the event, including local talent, with South Tyneside’s Annabel Pattinson taking to the stage.
The reopening event will be on between 6pm and 9pm with invited guests, and then it will be open to the public on April 9 with a Thai tapas tasting night, featuring samples from the new menu.
The tapas taster night will see three starters, four mains, two sides and a dessert between two people, and demand for the £12.95 menu is expected to be high.
