A more upbeat sound from Goldfrapp

ALISON Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have been making top-notch electro-pop since the likes of Lady GaGa and La Roux were still singing into their hairbrushes.

This is their fifth album, and it's a much more upbeat effort than the last one, the more laidback and pastoral Seventh Tree, returning to a glam-pop feel.

The opener, lead single Rocket, sets the pace nicely for a warm, welcoming album, and there's Giorgio Moroder-like synth flourishes everywhere.

Alison's distinctive breathy vocals dazzle on the excellent but distinctly-different Hunt and Shiny And Warm. 7/10. GW
