Album review: Arctic Monkeys - Suck It And See

ARCTIC MONKEYS ... Suck It And See (Domino Records)

ALEX Turner and co’s fourth album sees them shake off their desert rock phase and return to what they’re good at – making catchy pop songs.

It still rocks out in places – Brick By Brick and Library Pictures suggest Josh Homme’s influence will linger a while yet.

But it’s book-ended by two typical Arctic Monkeys tracks, She’s Thunderstorms and That’s Where You’re Wrong, and there’s much in-between to commend it.

The closer and Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair are my favourite moments, but everyone will have their own.

Those who loved their first two albums may be disappointed, but this is an album by a band who are still maturing, and you get the feeling their best is still to come. 7/10. GW
