Boldon band Boy Jumps Ship are launching their debut album this weekend with a special gig in the region.

The four-piece rock band – made up of Si Todd, Gav Gates, Jonny Robb and Jonathan Douglas – saw their debut Wake Up released today by Amazing Record Co.

They’re playing a one-off launch gig tomorrow at Newcastle’s O2 Academy 2, and will be heading out on tour next month.

Frontman Si said: “We’re so excited to get out on the road and play some new songs from our debut album Wake Up.

“We have done a lot of touring with other bands in recent times, it’s going to be really nice to get out and headline some of the places we have been to before.”

He added: “Signing to Amazing Record Co was pretty special for us. We wanted to make sure that our album found a good home and we definitely feel like we’ve achieved that with these guys.

“Even though we plan on taking this thing as far as we can globally, we always want to make sure that we remember our roots and where we came from. Having a locally-based label with the same vision and aspirations as we do makes it all a bit more exciting.”

Head to www.boyjumpsship.com for a full list of tour dates and to buy the album.

The album launch kicks off at 6.30pm tomorrow. Tickets cost £9.05. To book, go to www.academymusicgroup.com or call 0844 477 2000.
