MUSIC stars Joe McElderry and Little Mix brrr-aved the cold as they took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The singers are among hundreds of people, including celebrities, who have poured icy water over themselves to raise money and awareness for charity, the ALS Association.
Also dubbed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the stunt was started to promote the organisation, which raises money for research and patient services as well as promoting awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as motor neurone disease.
People taking part in the challenge are also encouraged to make a donation to the charity.
X Factor, Popstar to Operastar and The Jump champ Joe braved the cold as a bucket of icy water was poured over him.
The 23-year-old, from Westoe, South Shields, then nominated his manager, band and crew who work with him on the road to take on the challenge and make a donation to the charity.
Little Mix, which stars Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, from South Shields, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, stood perfectly still in an attempt to “take it like women” as freezing water was poured over their heads.
The girls, who also made a donation, nominated fellow music stars Jessie J, Jess Glynne and Cher Lloyd to take part.
Newcastle United stars Tim Krul, Mike Williamson and goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman have also taken part in the challenge, as has recent signing Karl Darlow, who has been loaned back to Nottingham Forest.
