Oz star Emilie in Trafalgar Square show

SOUTH Tyneside West End star Emilie Fleming is appearing in a special live event in London’s Trafalgar Square today.

The 23-year-old, from Boldon, is performing as part of West End Live 2014.

The event, now in its 10th year, runs from 11am to 6pm today and from noon to 6pm tomorrow.

The free annual festival showcases the best of the West End’s entertainment and culture.

Emilie will be seen at the festival alongside other cast members from the hit show Les Misérables.

The former St Joseph’s Catholic Academy pupil recently landed the role of Cosette in the production, which is running at the Queen’s Theatre, in London.

She debuted in the part on Monday, and took to Twitter afterwards to express her delight.

She said: “Well that happened! Wow thank you to everyone for such an amazing response! We did it! Best night of my life!”

Emilie, a graduate of Guildford School of Acting, reached the live finals of BBC talent contest Over The Rainbow, which saw Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber searching for a Dorothy for his production of The Wizard of Oz, in 2010.

She also recently starred as Charlotte Sowerberry in a professional production of Oliver! at the Crucible Theatre, in Sheffield.
