The talented youngsters met and became friends when they auditioned for a walk-on part in Peter Pan: The Never Ending Story, when it came to Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena in January.

Since then, they’ve appeared as Munchkins in the West End Musical Theatre Company’s production of The Wizard of Oz, at Northern Stage, in Newcastle.

Now, they’re preparing to step on stage as Linda, Mickey and Edward, in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers.

The show, by the John Christopher Theatre Company, is on at St Aloysius Church Hall, in Prince Consort Road, Hebburn, on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a main performance at the Royalty Theatre, in Sunderland, on Thursday.

Mia, 10, from Hebburn, will be starring as Linda in the story of twins separated at birth.

The St Oswald’s CofE Primary School pupil said: “Being in the show is really fun and John always brings sweets, pizzas and cookies for us.”

Hayden, 11, from Stanley, County Durham, will play Mickey.

He said: “We all have a lot of fun working together and doing the show, and John isn’t one of these people who wants everything to be perfect. He wants us to have a lot of fun too.” Ben, 10, from Westerhope, Newcastle, who is taking on the role of Edward, added: “He’s not too pushy and he likes us to have a good time.

“It’s been really great for all three of us to be together, because sometimes when you go to drama classes and you don’t know anybody it can be lonely at first, but it’s not like that with us.”

The trio all say that they want to be professional actors when they grow up, with Ben and Mia also showing an interest in dancing and singing.

Mia said: “I think we’re each other’s good luck charms.”

Hayden added: “This is the third show we’ve been in together, not many people can say that.

“I like doing drama because it’s good to meet new people and you get to be whatever you want to be. It’s really fun for everybody.”

Ben said: “I like acting because you can be anything you want to be and there’s no limits on what you can and can’t do.”

Mia said: “I like acting because it’s really fun and I like being in shows and being the centre of attention.”
