LUCKY Rachel Smith is sure to be the envy of most girls after meeting a Hollywood heartthrob.
The 18-year-old was so excited she couldn’t speak when she got the chance to have a picture taken with her idol Robert Pattinson.
She travelled to London where Pattinson – who shot to fame as Edward in the Twilight series – was promoting his latest film, Water For Elephants.
Rachel visited the capital with friends Lauren Davies, 22, and Alex Walker, 15, and camped out overnight to ensure she had a chance of meeting him.
She said: “It was absolutely freezing, but it was totally worth it in the end.
“People were going around with quizzes to keep us entertained during the long wait.
“When I finally saw Robert, though, I couldn’t even speak. I was so stunned, but he was lovely.”
The graphics student, at South Tyneside College, created a pencil drawing of Pattinson, nicknamed R-Patz, with co-star Reese Witherspoon, who was also at the premiere.
They were both impressed with her efforts and talent.
Rachel, who lives near South Shields town centre is now using her new treasured snap as her Facebook profile picture.
She said: “I managed to ask Robert for a picture, but the first one didn’t turn out well, so I asked for another and he came back, so I could get a better one.”
Celebrity spotting is nothing new for the teenager, who regularly attends Twilight conventions, and will be going to another in Birmingham in October.
She said: “I am a massive Twilight fan. The conventions are great – there’s usually five or six of the stars who turn up, so I’ve met quite a few.
“Some people get dressed up too. I do now and then, and they are a lot of fun. I’m team Edward all the way.”
