Train services will continue to run as normal until further notice, Nexus said in a statement on Monday, March 16, as cases of Covid-19 continue to rise across the UK.
It said: “At the moment there are no advised changes to Metro operations; if services are affected in future because Nexus employees are unable to come to work we will use our website and social media to advise passengers and employers.”

“We are following the advice issued by Public Health England, and we have taken on extra cleaners and increased cleaning of key points around Metro to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.”
At the start of March, Nexus announced that new cleaning regimes had been introduced, focusing on hand rails, train poles and ticket machine screens touched more frequently by passengers and they have confirmed that this remains in place.
They are also urging customers to follow Government advice and to stay at home if they have a high temperature or a new and continuous cough – even if it is mild.
