South Shields school’s nursery shuts after confirmed Covid-19 case reported
A South Shields junior school has announced its nursery will remain shut until pupils return from the half-term break in just under a fortnight.
It has been announced that the nursery at Ridgeway Primary Academy, in Park Avenue, is set to close for the remainder of the week.

Hide AdScheduled classes for other year groups at Ridgeway will not be impacted directly by the nursery’s closure.
Siblings of the nursery pupils who have now been ordered to self-isolate have also been advised to continue attending classes at the school.
The statement on the school’s Facebook page said: “We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Nursery bubble.
"We have spoken to Public Health England and the Local Authority Public Health Advisors and been advised that all children in green, red and yellow nursery groups and all nursery staff members, should be considered to have been in close contact with the affected case.

Hide Ad"In line with the national guidance we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolates until Friday 30th October, they can go out as normal from Saturday 31st October, returning to school from Monday 2nd November.
"Please note children in blue group are not considered a close contact at the time the virus was present and although nursery is closed for them also they do not need to isolate.”
The statement added: “We will provide further updates as soon as possible following advice from Public Health England.”
