Victim in South Shields murder probe named as Brandon Lee by police

Northumbria Police has named 24-year-old Brandon Lee, of Wansbeck Road, Jarrow, as the man who died at a property on Victoria Road, South Shields, on Tuesday, May 12.
Emergency services were called to the street shortly before 4am on Tuesday and discovered an unresponsive man who had suffered injuries consistent with a bladed article.
Brandon was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Hide AdA 23-year-old man, also located within the property who is believed to be known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.
Northumbria Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Shelley Hudson, the senior investigating officer on the case, said his family continue to receive support.
She said: “This is an incredibly difficult time for Brandon’s family and we have specially trained Family Liaison Officers supporting them.
“Our detectives are working hard to establish the facts and we would encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Hide Ad“We would reiterate that we believe those involved are known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.
“However, we will continue with a high visible policing presence on Victoria Road to reassure the public if they have any concerns about the activity.
“If anyone saw anything unusual in the area in the early hours of Tuesday morning, or may have information that assists police, then please get in touch.”
A police cordon remained in place at Victoria Road for most of Tuesday as officers and forensic teams continued to carry out inquiries in the area.

Hide AdOn Wednesday, the cordon had been removed from the scene but a police presence remained in the street.
Detectives will remain in the area to carry out inquires on Wednesday and high visibility patrols are also taking place, the force said.
