Hide AdNexus has stressed the ferry did not run out of fuel. The service resumed today as normal.
A Nexus spokesman told the Gazette: “It is not the case that the Shields Ferry had run out of diesel.
“We identified a fuel contamination issue which meant the ferry was not running smoothly and it was best to take them both out of service.
“We subsequently found the fuel filters on the Pride were blocked as well.
“That was fixed overnight and she was fuelled from a different source so she could go back into service today.”
