Injured walker helped by rescuers after falling while out on the South Shields coast

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) was called in to help the North East Ambulance Service at 12.33pm yesterday, April 4, following the call close to coastal marker 18, which is between Trow Rocks and Frenchman’s Bay.
The injured man said he was suffering from hip, knee and ankle pain.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the team said: “The team administered first aid until the ambulance arrived, we assisted with loading the casualty onto the stretcher and into the ambulance."
Later on the same day, at 7.28pm, the volunteers were called to the cliffs opposite The Bamburgh pub after reports of concern for a woman.
The team was stood down when its members were on their way as the incident had been resolved by the police.
It has asked anyone reporting an incident on the coast to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
