Charlie and Carter Cookson pub crawl postponed amid concerns over coronavirus pandemic

The 12 pubs in 12 miles event, organised by the Charlie and Carter Cookson Foundation, was scheduled to take place for the second time on Saturday, March 14.
However the charity has announced it will be postponed as the coronavirus continues to spread across the UK.

Hide AdThere are now more than 600 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country and 10 people have died from the virus.
Over 120 people were set to take part in the 12-mile crawl around South Shields’ most famous pubs in memory of brothers Charlie and Carter Cookson.
Charity manager, Joanne Nicholson said: “As a charity we have thought long and hard about going ahead with this event, but our hearts are telling us to postpone until all risks are under control.
“We can not thank all of you enough for signing up, however, as a charity we feel we have a responsibility to our supporters and the public to keep people as safe as they can be.

However, Joanne stressed that it was only postponed and the event would go ahead at some point in the future.
She added: “This is postponed not cancelled, keep your T-shirts safe, they will be needed at some point.
“We will also take this opportunity to get more people signed up.”
