Community backs calls for 'lovely' rainbow bows to be restored at Hebburn Cemetery gates

The rainbow bows, alongside colourful roses, were hung at the gates as a mark of respect for both the NHS and those who have lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the decorations have since been removed, prompting a petition signed by more than 1,000 people which demands their return.

Hide AdDozens of readers shared their views on the Gazette’s Facebook page, saying the bows cheered people up and brought comfort to grieving families.
A South Tyneside Council spokesperson told the Gazette that the authority never asked for the bows to be removed – but added that it was aware of ‘concerns’ raised about the decorations.
