Margaret Holden, from Farne Avenue, claims she has been living in damp conditions for more than a year despite complaining to South Tyneside Council on a number of occasions.
The mum-of-three says the damp in the walls and floor of her living room has got so bad that she now regularly sees slugs.

"I reported it to the council last year (2020) when I was pregnant with my son,” she said.
"They said they were going to do something about it then but they didn’t. I have raised it numerous times.
"They expect me to live with damp and slugs when I have three young children – one of which has a heart condition.”

"Since then, a surveyor has visited the property on two occasions and found no signs of damp in the walls.
