A South Shields man has raised hundreds of pounds in the fight against cancer but he is not stopping there.

Dale Lincoln will be back with another day of superb events for the Prostate Cancer UK and the Cancer Is A Drag causes after gathering in £1,500 from his last event.

Highlights included drag DJ Ruby Sparkles, a disco, and a burlesque fire eater Brit Hilton.

There were also two drag queens – Miss Coco Damol and Dame Darcy Twinkle – who performed a cabaret act.

There was a silent auction, a raffle, tombola, free prize games and it all helped to raise £1,500.

They gave their time free

Dale praised all of the people who supported him and gave their time and said he wanted to make the event an annual one.

He applauded people who still gave donations even at a time when money is tight as people with cancer face their own hardships.

"I can't thank people enough for the support and donations as well as my acts who performed free of charge. As we are all aware, the cost of living is affecting us all but more so people living with cancer who can't work yet still have bills to pay.

"This is where Cancer Is A Drag tries to help as much as possible and people's donations are needed more than ever so we can continue with to help those in need.”

Dale said he was ‘honoured to be an ambassador for this amazing charity and can't wait to for our next event at the New Sundial as I feel this is going to be the biggest yet.”

Dale, 38, and co-organiser Sasha Keyworth, were behind the recent fundraiser.

Dale said the next event “will be in July time at the New Sundial. It will be outside on the main stage for all and then a more outrageous showcase in the function room which will be via tickets.”

Dale will have more details of the event closer to the time but he is hoping even more people will come forward and volunteer their time.

‘If you are terminally ill, you still have to pay your bills’

He wants to raise lots of money so that people who are living with cancer can enjoy a special treat, or financial support when they most need it.
