Woman brought to safety from cliff edge after two-hour call out for emergency services

Northumbria Police officers were joined by Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team, South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB), Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and a crew and three Hazardous Area Response Teams (Hart) following a report at Marsden in South Shields last night, Tuesday, June 9.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 8.10pm police received a report of a woman on the edge of the cliffs at Marsden Grotto.

Hide Ad“Emergency services attended the scene and shortly before 10pm she was brought to safety.”
SSVLB said it was called to the scene at 8.17pm.
A spokesperson added: “The team were tasked with our colleagues from Sunderland CRT to a multi-agency incident at Marsden.
“After two hours a successful outcome was achieved.
