Port of Tyne picks up prestigious national award
The organisation has been voted as the Port Operator of the Year in the Freight Transport Association (FTA) Multimodal Awards.
The awards recognise excellence in air, road, rail, maritime and freight forwarding services.

Hide AdThe Port of Tyne picked up the award at a ceremony held at the NEC, in Birmingham, on Tuesday.
Port of Tyne business development director Nolan Gray said: “Thank you to all of our stakeholders, and suppliers who voted for us and for their continued support.
“The FTA Multimodal awards are important to celebrate our success collectively as a logistics industry and it is good to see such a diverse range of companies recognised for their contribution to the sector.”
The awards are organised by the FTA in association with Multimodal, the UK and Ireland's leading freight transport and logistics exhibition.

Hide AdThey were voted for by the readers of the Multimodal newsletter, as well as FTA members and exhibitors at Multimodal 2018.
Among the other ports shortlisted in the Port Operator of the Year category were DP World Southampton, PD Ports, Forth Ports – Port of Tilbury, Grangemouth and London container terminal, Forth Ports Rosyth, and ABP.
The awards evening was hosted by former England cricketer Geoff Miller, and was attended by representatives of all modes of freight transport, including air, sea, road and rail, as well as the industry’s buyers and support sectors.
The Multimodal exhibition is in its 11th year, and brings together logistics decision makers to help grow their network, develop new business and discuss industry topics.
