Scottish flavour at Sunderland school
At Bede Burn Primary in Jarrow, a Burns’ Day theme saw pupils served up haggis, neeps and tatties ,with a rustic toffee tart for dessert.
Youngsters were also treated to traditional Scottish music from bagpiper Ken Smith.

Hide AdThe themed lunch was organised by Bede Burn Primary’s school cook and native Scot, Jo Caffrey, in celebration of the life of Robert Burns.
Councillor Joan Atkinson, said: “This was a great opportunity for children to try new foods and learn more about Burns’ Day with the additional treat of the traditional bag pipes.
“The themed lunch served up demonstrates just how creative our catering staff are in encouraging our younger residents to experience different traditions, cultures and food.”
