South Tyneside pupils spread festive cheer with carol concert
Pupils from Harton Primary School choir visited Haven Court, a purpose-built unit which provides integrated health and social care services for older residents, their carers and families in grounds of South Tyneside District Hospital.
Glynis Heslop, office manager at the South Shields school, said the children did a fabulous job entertaining the residents.

“We were asked to come along because we were initially invited to see the facility being built, so we have a bit of history there.
“We have a fabulous choir, which is led by assistant head teacher Caroline Wells and the pupils were accompanied on the day by teaching assistant and pianist Kath Atack.”
She added: “The children were there an hour and a half and entertained the residents with Christmas carols. The residents loved it and so did the children.”

Ms Heslop added; “We are always very proud of our pupils.
“They really enjoyed the concert and so did the residents.”
The Christmas performance was organised by the Mental Health Concern activities and volunteer co-ordinators based at Haven Court.
