Nexus, the public body which operates the cross-Tyne ferry, halted the service in February as a safety precaution to allow further repairs to be completed on the north landing.
Earlier this week, the operator was unable to say when the ferry service would run again, but now it has confirmed that the Shields Ferry will be back in service from Sunday, March 21.

Hide AdThe first sailing from South Shields to North Shields will be at 10.15am.
It comes following the completion of welding repairs to the connections on the linkspan bridge at the North Shields landing, Nexus have confirmed.
However, due to local and national restrictions, the ferry’s reduced timetable is still in place until further notice, which an be found on the Nexus website: www.nexus.org.uk/ferry/timetable
