A yellow weather warning of “very strong winds” was put in force for the North East on Tuesday, December 10 and this is when to expect the wind and showers.

The Met Office predicts that the windy and wet weather could cause delays to traffic and dangerous travel on open roads.

The weather warning said: “Very strong winds are expected during Tuesday and may cause some disruption.”

The Met Office forecast for Tuesday, December 10 said: “Very windy, with persistent and often heavy rain, especially across the hills. A squally and heavy band of rain moving east during the late afternoon. Clearer spells and showers following. Maximum temperature 13 °C.”
