Hide AdMet Office forecasters say the showers will lessen through the evening and with clear spells across the North East overnight - but the showers are set to return on Sunday, when it will be breezy but a little warmer.
More cloud and rain are are expected on Monday, but there are some bright spells - and more showers - expected on Tuesday.
Wednesday is expected to turn cloudier again, with the odd shower possible.
