Newcastle’s game against Aston Villa tonight was postponed due to a worsening outbreak at the club.
The club has not confirmed the number of cases – or the identities of those infected. However, there have been reports that three players who faced Palace a week ago went on to test positive for Covid-19, and this was a “concern” for Hodgson and his medical staff.

Our doctor and player liaison officer did very well to organise the team and make sure all the correct precautions were in place to avoid any outbreak in our squad."
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s training ground remains closed, though the club hopes to reopen in next week ahead of the December 12 home game against West Brom.
