The Newcastle United defender – who suffered the injury earlier this month – has had his shoulder pinned ahead of next season.
Schar, fielded in midfield by Steve Bruce amid a late-season injury crisis at Newcastle, had been struggling for form before the injury, which saw him miss the final two games of the season.

Didn‘t want to end like this, but that‘s football. The operation went well, and I will be out for a bit. See you next season️.”
Bruce hopes that Schar – who was named the North East Football Writers’ Association’s player of the year for 2019 – will be back in time for the start of next season on September 12.
