Federico Fernandez dropped a hint about his future after Newcastle United ended the season with a win over Fulham.

Steve Bruce’s side won 2-0 at Craven Cottage yesterday to end the season in 12th place with 45 points.

Fernandez, signed from Swansea City three years ago, is among those players whose deals expire this summer. Speaking earlier this month, Bruce said: “All of them decisions are obviously discussions to be had when the season’s done and dusted. There are difficult decisions to make, of course at every football club, that’s part and parcel of it. Yes, we’ve got some big decisions to make.”

Fernandez hinted at an extended stay at Newcastle in an Instagram post after the Fulham game, which was decided by goals from Joe Willock and Fabian Schar.

"Very happy how we ended up the season,” said the 32-year-old. “Now time to recharge, and better things will come.”
