Newcastle United fans push 1892 Pledge ownership scheme backed by Alan Shearer towards early milestone
The Newcastle United Supporters Trust last week launched 1892 Pledge, a scheme aimed at raising enough money to give fans a small share of the club.
In the space of just four days, the initiative, which has the support of Alan Shearer, has raised £46,539 in pledges. NUST chair Greg Tomlinson tweeted: “Reflecting on last 96 hours. Over £45k pledged – we’re off to a flyer! Thanks to all that have pledged – we need to stay united and spread the word. This club is our club – we’re stronger united.”

Hide AdNUST board member Alex Hurst last week revealed the scheme’s target.
"We think at least £3million, because of (owner) Mike Ashley’s alleged valuation,” said Hurst. “If you even wanted to buy 1% of the club, you’d need to raise at least that. We think at least £3million would be a starting point. We’re hoping to raise more, of course.”
