Newcastle United have been hit with a fresh injury scare during their match against Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Striker Chris Wood was forced off with an injury in the first half of the match in Riyadh and replaced by midfielder Sean Longstaff. The 31-year-old looked in some discomfort as he made his way to the bench.

The Wood’s potential injury means Newcastle currently don’t have a fit striker available with Alexander Isak still recovering from a thigh injury and Callum Wilson with England at the World Cup.

Newcastle will be hoping the injury is not serious with a further update on Wood’s fitness to provided by Eddie Howe following the full-time whistle.

Newcastle currently lead 2-0 at half-time.
