Steve Bruce issues positive Newcastle United injury update on Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron
Wilson, Newcastle United s 10-goal leading scorer, suffered a hamstring injury in last month’s win over Southampton at St James’s Park, while Saint-Maximin and Almiron suffered groin and knee injuries respectively in the 1-1 home draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on February 28.
Bruce had labelled the loss of Wilson as “devastating” given his importance to his relegation-threatened team.

Asked about Wilson, Bruce said: "He’s four weeks in. We’re seeing him on the grass, and he’s progressing.
"That goes for Allan and Almiron as well, you know. We’ve just got to let nature take it’s course. They’re working as hard as they possibly can. We hope, with the international break maybe doing us a turn, so we hope, by the end of the international break, they’ll be there or thereabouts.”
Almiron has been spared a Paraguay call-up – and a spell in quarantine on his return to England – ahead of the Tottenham fixture after CONMEBOL postponed this month’s World Cup qualifiers.

“We’ve come through the week unscathed,” said United’s head coach.
