Martin Dubravka was one of the few Newcastle United players to speak after the club’s 5-0 defeat to Leicester City in late September.
The goalkeeper, however, was struggling to “find the right words” as he attempted to explain what had happened at the King Power Stadium.

Dubravka was right. It was embarrassing.
Five games, three wins and one draw later, Newcastle are 11th in the Premier League. Dubravka said: “This game was probably the worst game from our side. We knew that. It was important that we learnt from this game. We analysed what we should have done better on the pitch.”
Newcastle, helped by Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, did do better.
“I’m really glad that the players, like Saint-Maximin and Miguel, are showing their skills,” said Dubravka after the 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

“It takes some time for the new players to get used to it (Premier League football),” said Dubravka, on international duty with Slovakia. “I’m very happy that they showed their skills and their quality. Hopefully, we will be better and better, and we can also collect some points in the away games.”
Saint-Maximin and Almiron, however, are yet to scored for the club. Dubravka said: “Sometimes you just need the one goal – and it will come. Miguel and Allan are working really hard, and the team effort is always there.
“They had some speed. The opposition need to be aware of these players, as in two seconds they can be in their box. I’m very glad that they’re in our team. They can be our strength. Hopefully, they will score some goals, because they need that for the confidence, the self-confidence. We’re going to support them. Hopefully, we can be more clinical.
“No matter who scores, it’s important. Obviously, it will be better for the strikers, for their confidence, to score some goals, but at least we’re working really hard and creating chances.”
