A Just Giving page has been set up for donations, with all of the money going to the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
“I liked the idea of people in South Tyneside supporting South Tyneside hospital,” said Lewis, whose dad is a manager at the hospital where he once did work experience himself.
“My family has a personal connection to the hospital, but I really just wanted to do something to show our appreciation for everything that the staff have done and the strength they have show in the pandemic.”

Lewis, whose day job as music teacher and performer is currently on hold, due to lockdown, added: “We played at the Life of Riley quite often before the coronavirus outbreak, so we know that there’s plenty of room for us all to space out.
“I’m hoping we can raise at least £500 for them – they have done such an amazing job.”
