South Tyneside star to launch new North East production company promoting homegrown talent
Gary Walsh, who has danced professionally across the world, returned home to South Tyneside last year to open his own dance and theatre school, Walsh Theatre Arts.
Originally from College Road, Hebburn, Gary has starred in a number of musical theatre roles and travelled the world performing on cruise ships, including as assistant choreographer for Marella Cruises.

As well as producing their own shows, the company will provide performers for clients and events, including singers, dancers and speciality acts such as circus skills and stilt walkers.
The motivation behind it came from a desire to promote young performers in the region, says Gary.
“There’s not enough opportunities for performers in the North East,” he said.

Partners, Jennifer and John Gaskell, who both come from successful business backgrounds, were so impressed by Gary’s “passion” that they have chosen to back him in the venture.
“It works well because they are audience members and know what they look to see on the stage,” said Gary.
“I’m going to do my best to prove to them that they have made the right decision.”
