A Northumbrian Water spokesperson said: “Customers in South Shields may be experiencing disruption to their water supply, or low pressure, as our teams work to complete repairs to burst water pipes supplying the area.

”Some customers may experience low pressure during the course of the afternoon as the network returns to normal.
