Like all involved in the arts and culture sector, Louise Crosby lost all of her work when venues were forced to close their doors due to Covid restrictions.

As a singer in bands Hip Hop Hooray, and The Marigolds, as well as one half of duet Velvetone, the 23-year-old had a summer of weddings and gigs lined up which were all cancelled.

Now, Louise, who lives in Chichester, has joined a troupe of dancers set up by Sunderland performer Jennifer Foulds who provide an individual Elf Delivery service.

Louise Crosby lost all of her work when venues were forced to close their doors due to Covid restrictions.

The service, which is delivered through Jennifer’s company Evoke Entertainment, means families can hire an ‘Elf’ to perform outside of their homes in a performance personalised to that family’s experiences, as well as gifts for children left on the doorstep.

Each elf performs solo and brings a speaker with them for music, as well as props and a large scroll to read from the naughty list.

Louise, who performs as Sugarplum, said: “I perform songs and there’s a script too, but it can be personalised so it’s not too repetitive. It’s great fun and it’s great to be able to bring some festive cheer when so many events have been cancelled. And because it’s a delivery service it’s not affected by tiers.”

On the pandemic, she said: “It’s so sad for everyone in music and arts, but hopefully things will pick up.”
