Coronavirus case confirmed at South Tyneside school
Jarrow School, on Field Terrace in the town, has sent a letter to parents dated September 21 saying that it happened “within the school”.
The school has not said if the case involved a student of a member of staff.

Hide AdPupils who have been in close contact with the affected person have been sent home and told to self isolate.


The school remains open and students who have not been in contact with the person have been told to attend as normal.
The letter from Jarrow School headteacher Jill Gillies said: “We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended that they stay at home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact.”
South Tyneside has been subject to new coronavirus restrictions since September 18.
