South Tyneside Council have confirmed via their website that St Bede’s RC Primary School in South Shields will remain closed following the Christmas holidays due to flooding.

The school, on Claypath Lane in South Shields, is expected to be closed on Monday, January 4, and Tuesday, January 5, after it was hit by flooding.

According to the South Tyneside Council website, the school is set to reopen to all pupils following the two-week Christmas break on Wednesday, January 6.

The council website said: “St Bede’s RC Primary School, Claypath Lane, South Shields, will be closed Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th January due to flooding.

“It is expected to reopen Wednesday 6th.”
