MP Mary Foy has announced that she is self-isolating ‘as a precaution’ after being in close contact with Jarrow MP Kate Osborne.

The South Tyneside MP had announced via Twitter that she had tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, March 16 and is now in isolation while she fights the illness.

And now Durham City MP Mary Foy has said she has taken the precaution of self-isolating in a bid to prevent the spread of the disease.

Announcing her decision on Twitter, constituents were reassured that the MP’s office will remain open.

The statement said: “As you may know, MP Kate Osborne has tested positive for Covid-19.

“As I’ve been in close contact with Kate, I’m self-isolating as a precaution.

“Our office will remain open, although we’ll not be accepting drop-ins.

“My thoughts are with Kate and I wish her a speedy recovery.”
