1. JANUARY: Who wants to be a millionaire? Anyone?
On January 7 we reported that a EuroMillions winner of £1million had bought the ticket in South Tyneside. 3. MARCH: Hole lot of trouble at Souter cliff
There was a worrying development for runners and dog walkers when a sinkhole suddenly appeared on the clifftop close to Souter Lighthouse. The hole was closed off and the National Trust, who own the land, were looking into it. In July South Tyneside Council would block off a section of the coastal path. Photo: Stu Norton
4. APRIL: Customs House honour for Jade
Little Mix star Jade Thirwall learned her craft at the Customs House in South Shields, appearing on stage on numerous occasions before finding international stardom with Little Mix.
