The Great British Bake Off has returned and that means television viewers in their millions following the fortunes of the contestants.
But it also gives us a chance to reflect on some great baking scenes closer to home. Here are nine photos from South Tyneside over the years, each showing people either baking cakes for charity, at an after-school club or to show their support for some footballing heroes.
