BUSINESS is booming at a town-centre pub after a £250,000 revamp.

Bosses at Kirkpatricks, in Ocean Road, South Shields, have now unveiled their new-look premises to customers after being closed for a fortnight.

It’s been absolutely rammed. We’re really looking forward to the bank holiday weekend, and we’re expecting it to be very busy.

The bar, owned by the Leeds-based Stonegate Pub Company, has been completely redecorated inside, a VIP section has been created, and replacement kitchens have been installed, along with a new sound system.

Six new staff, a mixture of bar and kitchen employees, have also been taken on by Scott Ramsey, the pub’s manager for the last two years.

Fantastic

Mr Ramsey said: “The response we’ve had is fantastic.

“All our regulars have returned, and there’s been plenty of new customers too. It’s been absolutely rammed. We’re really looking forward to the bank holiday weekend, and we’re expecting it to be very busy.

“There’s now cask ales for people to enjoy and premium lagers, which we didn’t have previously.”

Mr Ramsey added: “We’ve gone for a modern look, but we’ve still kept the traditional feel.”
