June 1 marked the beginning of summer as well as the further easing of lockdown restrictions, meaning people could meet up to five others outside as long as they kept two metres apart.
But there were few groups out on Monday when our photographer visited, with families and couples content in their own company enjoying the first day of summer.
Many businesses along the seafront are now open serving refreshments, with safety measures in place, and even some popular activities have come back to life.
Health chiefs are urging people to stay alert and follow the guidelines, however, to help prevent the virus spreading.
